@MyEbonybox review || June’s Edition

Good morning, afternoon or evening all!!

How is the summer treating you? Are you working? Doing work experience? On holiday? Or simply at home? Let me know what you are up to in the comment section below.

We are well into August and I should have done my review and be opening August’s box by now but I am not home at the moment so I can only do the LATE review for now. Let’s see what I have used in June’s box so far!!

Okay, so I know that this is not a piece of art but I thought it was cool so I framed it and it is now standing on my desk.

1- Burts Levi Roots Reggae Reggae crisps by Burts crisps- RRP £1 ||http://www.burtschips.com

DEVOURED IT! Without surprise I loved it. I don’t eat a lot of crisps anymore but would definitely recommend these because of the little spice it has in it! DELICIOUS they were!

2- Women’s Energy tea by Yogi Tea || http://www.yogiproducts.com

NOT USED YET- here is the reason: I had misplaced it because of the big move I was having in my room after opening the box *sigh*

3- Caribbean Coconut Whipped shea butter by AfroDeity || http://www.afrodeity.co.uk

TO USE this week- I have brought it with me on holiday to use and review. See the size, it will be 2 to 3 servings I think. Check my instagram for review (@highnessempowershighness)

4- She who believed- silver bracelet by MEB RRP £10 || http://www.myebonybox.com

WORE IT- I think this bracelet is actually so cute. I used to have a bracelet with the same message but I can’t seem to find it. Therefore, this one came as a good replacement. It’s a great reminder and way to empower myself.

5- Multi-use scarf/ headwrap/ sarong by MEB RRP£6

USED- as a headwrap only for now bur for different occasion. I love my hair. God knows I do. But, my, my, how I lurrrrv a nice headwrap for real!!

6- Moisture Silk shampoo and avocado smoothie conditioner travel set by Bourne Beautiful Naturals RRP £15 || http://www.bournebeautifulnaturals.co.uk

NOT USED YET- I was finishing my Shea moisture shampoo and conditioner set. Now that it is all finished, I will start using this once I have taking my protective style down. Will let you know then.

All items, bar the 2 samples, add up to £32… still more than what I pay for so still a big win for me. Don’t wait and get your own box from the shop HERE.

@MyEbonyBox review || May’s Edition

Good morning! How are you doing? Happy new month!

Just wanted to say a warm welcome to the new followers/ subscribers and thank for the love and support to everyone (old and new)

And it is here! I let June finish without the review of May’s box… sorry! I can barely believe that we’ve gone through half of 2017… just like that! I will be doing a big reflection and review of my life goals and accomplishments of the past 6 months!

Anyway, let’s see what has been used in May’s box

1- Gold eyeliner – Rimmel London RRP £4

Used and really liked the colour to be honest! I’m still working on my eyeliner skills and when I perfect it I will show you a look with this liner.

In terms of pigmentation, it is okay but it collected the colour of my foundation on my eyelids as I dragged it across them so I had to keep on “cleaning” the nib.

2- Exfoliating cleanser– bea skin care RRP £29

Not used yet… and I have no real reason to it- if I’m keeping it 100% real with you all.

3- Shea and coconut oil- Gro healthy RRP £4.49

Using it- This thing smells so nice it’s not even funny! I have not used it enough to actually review it

4- QUEEN make up/ pencil bag– My Ebony Box RRP £6

Used it a couple of time but I have a few pencil case/ makeup bags to use. Plus I really don’t want to ruin it in my work bag. I’ll used it during summer.

5- Scotch bonnet sauce sample- Tropical Paradise Preserves RRP £2

Using it! I didn’t use the pizza (?) recipe that came with cause I’m lame but definitely enjoying it. That I know!

6- Creamy whipped shea butter with precious oils- Aiko Naturals RRP £3.99

Used it and finished it. Low-key sad. Whipped shea butter is bomb because you can use it from the top of your hear to the sole of your feet! I need to get some more soon because #SupportBoB yaknow!

7- 2 Girls artwork postcard- Nicholle Kobi

My set of frames is coming so nicely! I got the from Poundland but they do the job so YAY!

That’s it my people!

A new month. 31 new days to shine, to be empowered and to empower 👑✊🏿

Thursday Three… it’s all about that base, ’bout that base!

Good morning to you!

How is your day going? Earlier last week, I was thinking about how it has been a long time I’ve posted a Thursday Three so I’m here to rectify that. Here are three product I have been loving and enjoying for the past weeks:

1- Fit Me by Maybelline in shade 360 Cocoa

Now, I know I have been swearing by my L’Oréal True Match but this foundation right here is just WORKING for me lately! As you may know, I have oily skin and tend to turn into a disco ball by the end of the day more time than never… and a sista don’t like it!

I was not sure about the colours at first but close my eyes and went for this one anyways and it totally fits me! YAY!!

The difference with the True Match is that this one seems to be more matte and to stay more matte much longer.

2-HD Studio Photogenic concealer by NYX in the shade CW08 Nutmeg

This one will almost come as a contradiction to the previous item. I use this concealer to avoid using foundation… the very one that I said I love!

Here’s the thing, I have been working on my skin and skincare lately: I stopped eating chocolate and peanut butter the way I used to because they break my skin out which leaves my skin with VERY dark spots.

Tea tree oil, lemon oil, regular exfoliation and all this fun stuff have been my thing lately and the result is there. My skin IS getting clearer. Hence why I don’t use foundation as before. Yay for me!

3- Pro conceal HD corrector by L.A . Girl in GC990- orange

Talking about my very dark spots, here is the corrector to it!! It’s all about blending it in then conceal! When I apply myself, my skin comes out near spotless. I got this from lustre cosmetics some months back but I didn’t really know how to use it properly.

And that’s all for this TT! Hope you enjoyed it!

Be blessed and be empowered, always. 👑👸🏾

@MyEbonyBox review || April’s Edition

@MyEbonyBox review || April’s Edition

Bonjour à tous! How you doing? I’m back with the review of April’s box from MEB.

The original post should show up at the very bottom of the page. If it is not the case, here is the link.

And now, leggo!

1- Choc Plus – Hot chocolate marshmallow and chocolate. RRP is said to be £2.

Now, the thing is I don’t drink nor eat chocolate as much as I used to but this is nice to try. I will probably be sharing with friends.

TRIED IT- I used it with hot milk and the hotter the quicker it melts. It is actually a very nice hot chocolate prep. I don’t actually like marshmallow but it would have been much better with more of it. Finally, I could bet money of the fact that I saw my local Aldi selling it! Check your own if you are interested in trying it

2- Cream of nature– Açai berry and keratin strengthening hair masque- RRP £1

I normally like the products from CON. This is a new fragrance. I will only be able to use it when I remove my braids. I will keep you posted in my review of this box, next month.

+ 2 samples (shampoo and conditioner). I don’t have a whole lot of hair but I already have a feeling that will not be enough- especially the conditioner.

NOT USED YET– they are in my massive hair sample pile that like to shop now and again. I will be giving it a go this weekend, when it is washday for me. I have used CON’s products before and I have been happy with them so there should be no reason for me not to like these ones.

3- Choctone postcard by Ramses Schweizer- RRP £1.50

Indeed, “my chocolate comes in all shades”. Love the message behind it! If you are familiar with the Pantone concept, you should understand this easily. Another piece to frame!!

NOT FRAMED YET but this is simply because I need to get some smaller frames from poundland. At the moment, it is in my bedside table. Still loving it though

4- EWA Nutrilicious face mask RRP £1 on the leaflet but £1.50 on the insta page.

It’s a mix of clay , coconut powder and some other powder. It is to be mixed with water of milk. I will try both ways and review it.

NOT USED YET– but I will probably have by the time you read this post. Check my instagram to see what I say about it (@highnessempowershighness)

5- MEB– Handmade African bangle RRP £5

It’s MEB’s own brand. I love Ankara everything.I am VERY into that because they tend to be really unique.

WORE IT ROCKED IT! I had on a white shirt or it really stood out. Unfortunately, I’m gonna have to find a way to stop it from fraying!

6- MEB- Ebony noir candle. RRP £4

I’m not trying to be funny but this one of the nicest smells ever.  Spicy, woody and floral is EXACTLY what it smells like. I didn’t think I would like it but my mistake!! I had stopped burning candles a few months ago but I’m gonna get back to it because it is always nice.

USING IT– burning it as I am typing this post and you NEED to get one and try it. Personally I love it!!

7- Bea skincare– vitamin infused Konjac sponge set £RRP £22

According to the leaflet in the box, it’s the part 1 of it. Next month, we should receive prat 2. I want to believe it is the Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser from the same brand but I could be wrong.

I’ve had Konjac sponges before and usually enjoyed using them. We shall see if it makes any difference that it is vitamin infused!

NOT USED YET– I was waiting for the part 2- which arrived with this mont’s box and it is a cleanser. Hopefully I will be able to talk about it in the next review.

I can’t wait to get June’s box and also review May’s. I really am enjoying the boxes and products. I love to know that the products and companies are for strong and empowering black women – most if not all.

Short review of @MyEbonyBox || March’s Edition

Bonjour à tous! How was your weekend? I’m back with the review of March’s box from MEB. I did the first one last month (find it here) and I thought, well why not doing this month’s.

Let’s go!

1- Afrocenchix || Soothe – Natural scalp oil RRP £3.99

USING IT! I posted this on the new Instagram for my blog (here) and as I said, it is very useful now that I have braids on. It does work on itchy scalp.

2- Brown coconut oil || Lip balm RRP £1.00

I HAVE NOT USED IT YET- that’s simply because I’m already using at least 3 lip balms. I have a bad habit of starting them without getting to finish them. I either end up losing them or keep them for too long and throw them away.

3- My Ebony Box || “Black Girl Magic” earrings RRP £8.00

4- Dorcascreates || “To An Amazing Super Woman!” card RRP £2.75

NOT USED YET- it is so pretty I kinda don’t want to give it away… is that selfish of me?

5- Dorcascreates || art coaster- Black hair magic v3 RRP £6.00

KINDA USING IT- the truth is I keep it at home where I don’t really use coasters. I just like to look at it, like the previous item.

6- Magic collection || satin sleep cap  RRP £3.99

USING IT USING IT AND USING IT. I actually left my old one in Canada, when I went last summer and since I came back I had been using headscarves until I received this. It is a very useful tool of black girls/ women with natural hair out there.

7- Chika’s || chickpea crisps RRP £1.79

ATE IT- I‘m pretty sure I finished it by the time I wrote the last full stop of the unboxing post…

8- Dorcascreates || postcard art print RRP £1.00

I’m ashamed to say that I have not framed not put it up yet. I definitely will!!

See a Queen, Salute a Queen!

Short review of @MyEbonyBox || February’s edition

Short review of @MyEbonyBox || February’s edition

Hi all! Happy Monday! How was your weekend?

I mentioned in my recent unboxing of March’s box that I would  review the box from February, so here it is.

Here is a recap of the content- you can find the full article with all pictures here:

1- A mug from My Ebony Box. – RRP £10USING IT!- It is awesome! I mean it looks fabulous. I’m keeping at home as I already have a mug at work.

2- A lipgloss from Fashion Fair– RRP is £15. USING IT! and I don’t even like lip glosses like that. I normally prefer actual lipstick because I don’t like looking like I have just eating a bowl of spaghetti. Plus, my lips are 2 different colours, therefore I tend to cover it all or nothing.

3-Some dried strawberries called Strawberry Chewies from Vegan Alex– RRP £1EATEN!– If I am 100% honest with you, I had finished the pack by the time I had type the unboxing post. The were really nice! I’m making note to get some more.

4- A couple of samples from Shea & Coconut with omega 3. It is a packet of their smooth edges and their curling custard. USED! Note fore self: don’t sleep on the samples you are sent!! Then can be bomb. That w`s the case this time. I ended up buying the full size of the smooth edge. It costed 7 quid am!! SEVEN QUID! I’m glad it is doing what I want it to do cause I would not be happy.

5- A sample of avocado oil from Charlenes Hairipy. USING IT!- I have been using it whenever I remember.

6- Some art work from Caldey Muffet. USED IT!- I found a frame for it, it is currently crowning my desk.

7- A sample of herbal tea from Pukka. USED IT! As I have said before, I love tea an it was a pleasure drinking this one out of my new mug YAY!

8- An AMAZING Melanin choker from Inoir. – RRP £6 USED IT! -many times even. It travelled to France with me. I love how I had a full on convo about melanin with a melanin deficient friend because of it #EducationIsKey!

9- A calendar from Imani Academy. USING IT! Having the different celebration at the back is brilliant and useful. Need to get into the colouring though.

10-This book – Geraldine’s Pearls of Wisdom Wisdom for women by Marcia M.– RRP £2.75 READ IT and will read it again soon. You can get through it in a matter of an hour- depending on how fast of a reader you are.

VERDICT: the content was a amazing as it was varied and included food… that’s always a good thing. I can imagine how hard it is to find great brands to work with whilst trying to please so many different women.

It is way more than a beauty box or a haircare/ skincare one. For this reason, I want to say it is better than My ChocoBelle box that I used to received until they shut down.

Finally, I don’t really have to get out of my way to use the items so that I’m loving!

Do check them out if you are a woman of colour. Remember where you saw it forest lol. They ship internationally so it doesn’t really where you are- of course confirm with them before buying anything.

I pray you have an amazing, blessed and productive week ahead.

Remain empowered, always. You are Royalty 👑✊🏿👸🏾

Thursday Three with an actual review| Eng/Fr

Hello there!

This is one of  my favourite segments on my blog: Thursday Three. Three of my favourite things- be it makeup, skincare, clothes, activities… you name it.

The three products I’m loving and I am talking about today are:

Soap and Glory- eyeliners Supercat and SupercatFat in Black

These have to be the easiest eyeliners I’ve ever used. I have two other liquid ones that I really like and mentioned in this post but ,in the morning, when I’m in a hurry these two are the ones I reach for. Well, one of them. You get what I’m saying! They are actually drying/ almost empty now 😔and I need to go and get a new set pretty soon.

HJ manicure- Nail polish in Coco

I have been massive fan of nice red nails untiiiiiiiil…! Until the day I received this nail polish in a beauty box I was subscribed to. At first I was skeptical as I always am when it comes to “nude” colours like this one- be to nail polish or lipstick. I tried it and luuuurved it from that very second!! It is o so pretty and goes with literally any other colour. It is on of these “barely there” types of colours. It gives a clean look and the size of the brush is decent for an easy application.

L’Oréal- true match Foundations in Cappuccino (8N) and Deep Cool (9R/9C)

I used to think that my MAC foundations (powder or liquid) were the best I could get at a decent price because it is difficult to find that match my skin on the hight street- especially in the south of England Bournemouth.

I had a look at this l’Oréal foundation in boots because of a French blogger Fatou. Because they had no testers in my local boots and because I could not decide, I went for the 2 shades. Playing the safety card there.

At first, I was mixing them (1 to 2 pumps roughly) because I don’t like to look grey. How I was wrong! I was being misled by the morning light in my room or the absence thereof  and also because I was wearing jumpers and scarves. In reality, I did not need to mix them. Cappuccino is in fact a true match to my skin! Gloria!!

The foundation is as they say “super bendable. It is light-weight- especially compared to the MAC studio finish that I tended to use. It has a medium coverage that can easily be built over evenly.

It costs £9.99- which is a fraction of what I pay for the MAC studio fix foundations!

Finally, the foundations have this built-in highlight that gives me an Ah-Ma-Zing glow. It is less visible in the 8N but 9R/9C is the bomb! I can’t wait for summer when I get a bit darker to wear it.

All in all, I would DEFINITELY recommend this foundation.

Until next time, remain empowered highness!✊🏿✊🏿
