Unboxing @MyEbonyBox|| October Edition

Hi there!

Last month I was lazy and selfish extremely busy so i still have September’s content in my drafts… sorry about that. But this month I am back with the unboxing

October is a celebration month! This October is very special for MEB as they are celebrating they first birthday or anniversary- depends if you’re looking at it as something Queen J birthed or another company…

October is also my birthday… TWINS!

Finally, October is ALSO Black History Month. So the content of this month’s box celebrates both occasions. I was really glad to open my “monthly dose of melanin self-care”

Check it all out down there.

From Palmer’s UK – https://uk.palmers.com

1. Cocoa Butter Formula Jar- RRP £3.65

can be purchased here (Superdrug)

2. Olive Oil Deep conditioner- RRP £1.99

From Black On Paper- https://www.blackonpaper.com

3. Billie Holiday A6 print- RRP £2

I did not know about this but the concept is amazing!

Did you know you could get your OWN face on paper?

… or a friend’s- whatever!

4. Black Glamour Squad badge- RRP £4

One more!!!! yes! I’ve got a thing for badges.

From MyEbonyBox- http://www.myebonybox.com

5. I am Black History earrings- RRP £7

Just look at them! I’m not gonna say anything else.

6. Gold frame- RRP £4

I have not tried but I have a feeling it is the perfect size for the print from BOP or even the one that came on the cover of the box. Will check!

From Shetai – https://www.shetai.co.uk

7. Natural hair butter- exclusive sample

This is such a nice size for a sample… I wonder how big the real products are :O

I’ve said it before, I love whipped butters for hair or skin because of the texture. I am a very happy product junkie right about now!

From their website: “Our lightly whipped, multi-use, super soft hair cream contains pure organic Shea butter lightly fused with nourishing natural oils.”

From Nylah- Nylah’s website

8. Herbal hair tea- grow blend -RRP £5

It’s really weird how we used to boil leaves (basically making tea) to wash from head to toe in Haiti as treatment for one thing or the other. To us it was normal but receiving this hair tea surprised me. Anyway, I cannot wait to try it.

From the website: “Herbs have been used for centuries to naturally soften hair, increase its manageability and restore lustre, body and bounce. Our Grow blend contains key herbs and super botanicals that stimulate the scalp and nourishes the hairs follicle helping to reduce excess shedding and promote hair growth”

From Green and Black’s – https://www.greenandblacks.co.uk

9. From Green and Black’s organic

This is really sweet as a gift from MEB. I will have to gift it to someone else as I don’t eat chocolate.

On top of ALL these goodies, I got a little extra… These gifts make me appreciate Queen J even more! I feel the love. I really do!

Thank you so very much!

And another one!! By the way, I just bought a few for some of my students. I can’t wait to give them out.

aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!! I am screaming!!! I swear she just knows me by now!! Hay are AH- MAY- ZIIIIING!! Let me go and be extra fabulous. I’ll see you later!

Unboxing @MyEbonyBox #6 || July’s Edition

Hello beautiful and handsome ones! How are you feeling today?

We’re more than half way through July so you KNOW that my box has arrived. It has been here for just over a week even! I did an unboxing on my Instagram (@highnessempowershighness) and that made me well lazy to do a proper post here.

But here I am with it. Have a look! My babe at MEB is helping me to get ready for my holidaaaaaayyyyys!!

1- Phrooti’s Fruit infused water- RRP £1.95

I’m surprised this is not opened yet! I normally enjoyed flavoured water so I hope I like this one. The main difference is that this not simply flavoured. It is infused with real berries. Plus, it is made in England. Check them out here.

2- The Soap Connoisseur’s Blossoming Blueberry Whipped scrub- RRP £15

A new scrub! Glory!! The one I had done myself just finish. Talk about amazing timing!! Have you seen the price!! I hope it works nicely on my skin. Also, did I say it smells divine?! Their website is right here.

3-MEB’s Woke sleep mask- RRP £7

An item from their own brand. I’m gonna end up with everything they sell if I’m not careful you know.

Anyway, I am travelling in the next few weeks. Quite a long flight to be honest so I hame going to flaunt it and be ready to discuss with my neighbours about being woke!!

Auntie, queen, babe’s website ->> here.

4- Jim and Henry’s leave-in conditioner- eight- RRP £18.50

When I unboxed it on my Insta story, I tagged the brand and they told me it is called eight because it only has 8 ingredients. Such a nice size for travels so I’m excited about that!!

5- Purell’s sanitizing wipe- sample

Keep it clean, even on holiday! I have not used had gel as much as I used to in ages. I simply wash my hands because it feels much cleaner. However, this is great in case of emergency!! yeah!

6- MEB’s Goddess necklace- RRP £10

Another one from MEB! Can’t wait to be rocking this precious little necklace. I love what it stands for.

7- Feed My Creative’s luggage tag- RRP £3.50

Ayeeeeeee!! Limited edition luggage tag!! I have spoken to the owner on instagram and she’s such a  darling. Well pleased with the product. Another thing I will be using this August!!

@MyEbonyBox review || May’s Edition

Good morning! How are you doing? Happy new month!

Just wanted to say a warm welcome to the new followers/ subscribers and thank for the love and support to everyone (old and new)

And it is here! I let June finish without the review of May’s box… sorry! I can barely believe that we’ve gone through half of 2017… just like that! I will be doing a big reflection and review of my life goals and accomplishments of the past 6 months!

Anyway, let’s see what has been used in May’s box

1- Gold eyeliner – Rimmel London RRP £4

Used and really liked the colour to be honest! I’m still working on my eyeliner skills and when I perfect it I will show you a look with this liner.

In terms of pigmentation, it is okay but it collected the colour of my foundation on my eyelids as I dragged it across them so I had to keep on “cleaning” the nib.

2- Exfoliating cleanser– bea skin care RRP £29

Not used yet… and I have no real reason to it- if I’m keeping it 100% real with you all.

3- Shea and coconut oil- Gro healthy RRP £4.49

Using it- This thing smells so nice it’s not even funny! I have not used it enough to actually review it

4- QUEEN make up/ pencil bag– My Ebony Box RRP £6

Used it a couple of time but I have a few pencil case/ makeup bags to use. Plus I really don’t want to ruin it in my work bag. I’ll used it during summer.

5- Scotch bonnet sauce sample- Tropical Paradise Preserves RRP £2

Using it! I didn’t use the pizza (?) recipe that came with cause I’m lame but definitely enjoying it. That I know!

6- Creamy whipped shea butter with precious oils- Aiko Naturals RRP £3.99

Used it and finished it. Low-key sad. Whipped shea butter is bomb because you can use it from the top of your hear to the sole of your feet! I need to get some more soon because #SupportBoB yaknow!

7- 2 Girls artwork postcard- Nicholle Kobi

My set of frames is coming so nicely! I got the from Poundland but they do the job so YAY!

That’s it my people!

A new month. 31 new days to shine, to be empowered and to empower 👑✊🏿

#StudyingSociety: “Would you date a woman with an Afro? “

#StudyingSociety: “Would you date a woman with an Afro? “

Seriously, social media is full of people asking stupid questions!! It makes me sad…

The other day, as I was scrolling through my Instagram’s explorer page and I saw this picture with 3 photos of the (same) (gorgeous) woman with her hair in a MASSIVE Afro. It came with the question: “would you date a woman with an Afro?”… yeah, SAME!
I want to rephrase the question for them: would you date a woman with her 4c hair in its natural state?

Because really that’s the question they asked. I think they didn’t realise that a black woman with an Afro is like a Caucasian woman with her hair brushed down. It is nothing else but a NATURAL hairstyle.

My Afro is what my hair looks like when I comb it out. The same way, I could easily have braids, cornrows, bantu knots, twists and all this kind of jazzy hairstyles.

Cut us some slacks. You are not dating a woman for her hairstyle. If it is the case, well… let me tell you about that deception that is coming your way very fast. The afro can and will most likely change.
Now, it could well be that they were talking about natural hair in general. Maybe they amalgamated the two terms “Afro” and “natural hair”. In this case, it would be a whole other discussion for another day. Again, I could rephrase it in many ways to show the person how thick they sound.

Excuse me but I get really sensitive when it comes to black women with 4c hair… especially the bashing of it.

So please, I’m begging you, wear your hair with all the pride in the world. This hair came out of your scalp- own the life out of it! Please!

I could go on and on on this topic but that’s not what we are trying to do!

Thank you for reading and until next time, be empowered, always queen with the big crown…. I see you babe!

Unboxing @MyEbonyBox #4||May’s Edition

Unboxing @MyEbonyBox #4||May’s Edition

Hello there!

A new month, a new box! My box got here on Thursday with a new set of goodies.

Let us have a look at it all.

We still have the classy and classic black box.

1- Gold eyeliner – Rimmel London RRP £4

My kinda eyeliner to be honest. I used to love coloured eyeliners but for some reason we drifted apart. This right here is motivation. Watch out for the makeup look post…

I could not find it on Rimmel’s website but here is a link to it on amazon

2- Exfoliating cleanser– bea skin care RRP £29

This is the second part for the bea duo promised last month. i am now ready to use the konjac sponges. Also it is a full size product so yay!

3- Shea and coconut oil- Gro healthy RRP £4.49

I have grown fonder of this brand thanks to My Ebony Box, although buying any of their product is a hassle- especially for me living in Bournemouth *sigh*

Anyways, oil is alway needed for my natural hair. Since I am trying to grow it out, I’m going to work out on a good but simple regimen to see how much it helps.

4- QUEEN make up/ pencil bag– My Ebony Box RRP £6

😍😍👸🏾👑- That’s all I have to say!! #Highness

5- Scotch bonnet sauce sample- Tropical Paradise Preserves RRP £2

When I say this item, all I could think of was Beyoncé’s lyrics: “I’ve to hot sauce in my bag…”

Okay, I know she was not talking about literal hot sauce but in my case, it applies so we’re gonna roll with it :)-  Their FB page is here.  (That’s the first time I cannot eat the edible item whilst typing the unboxing post… sad)

6- Creamy whipped shea butter with precious oils- Aiko Naturals RRP £3.99

I used to do my own whipped shea butters so it is nice to go back to something that I know and that is practical and easy to use everyday.

7- 2 Girls artwork postcard- Nicholle Kobi

More art!! I now can’t wait to move in my own house where I can really display all the beautiful melanin filled art that I have been receiving. I really wish I knew how to draw sometimes…

Also, I just checked her website and Nicholle is French so it’s like automatic love lol

The box’s content amounts to £49 that is almost the price I pay for THREE boxes. A big win if you ever ask me!! This is very profitable so if you are looking for a subscription box, I would definitely recommend this one.

I have some exciting news to share with you guys. I shall do it this week. If you follow me on snapchat (@mlle_mara) or instagram (@highnessempowershighness), you are aware of it all.

So follow me there not to miss out!!

Baby got back! Not really but since you could see my back, I thought it would be a good line…. sorry!

When I realised I had dried concealer on the back of my hand.

Me too, I can look for things that are not lost. See for yourself!

Short review of @MyEbonyBox || March’s Edition

Bonjour à tous! How was your weekend? I’m back with the review of March’s box from MEB. I did the first one last month (find it here) and I thought, well why not doing this month’s.

Let’s go!

1- Afrocenchix || Soothe – Natural scalp oil RRP £3.99

USING IT! I posted this on the new Instagram for my blog (here) and as I said, it is very useful now that I have braids on. It does work on itchy scalp.

2- Brown coconut oil || Lip balm RRP £1.00

I HAVE NOT USED IT YET- that’s simply because I’m already using at least 3 lip balms. I have a bad habit of starting them without getting to finish them. I either end up losing them or keep them for too long and throw them away.

3- My Ebony Box || “Black Girl Magic” earrings RRP £8.00

4- Dorcascreates || “To An Amazing Super Woman!” card RRP £2.75

NOT USED YET- it is so pretty I kinda don’t want to give it away… is that selfish of me?

5- Dorcascreates || art coaster- Black hair magic v3 RRP £6.00

KINDA USING IT- the truth is I keep it at home where I don’t really use coasters. I just like to look at it, like the previous item.

6- Magic collection || satin sleep cap  RRP £3.99

USING IT USING IT AND USING IT. I actually left my old one in Canada, when I went last summer and since I came back I had been using headscarves until I received this. It is a very useful tool of black girls/ women with natural hair out there.

7- Chika’s || chickpea crisps RRP £1.79

ATE IT- I‘m pretty sure I finished it by the time I wrote the last full stop of the unboxing post…

8- Dorcascreates || postcard art print RRP £1.00

I’m ashamed to say that I have not framed not put it up yet. I definitely will!!

See a Queen, Salute a Queen!
